What visa do I need for USA?

To enter or transit through the United States as a visitor, you must obtain a visa or a visa waiver issued by the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). You should consult the website of the US Department of State to determine which visa you need.

You should be aware that if you have travelled to or been in Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Yemen or after 1 March 2011, you are not eligible for an ESTA visa waiver and will need to apply for a US visa.

The US Embassy recommends that travelers who fall into the following categories should not attempt to travel under the ESTA and instead apply for a visa: those who have been arrested (even if the arrest has not resulted in a criminal conviction); those who have a criminal record; those who have been denied entry to or deported from the US; and those who have previously overstayed their ESTA period. More information can be found on the website of the US embassy.
